Painting / Paentio
Harri Carmichael is a contemporary artist living and working in her home studio on Anglesey. Harri’s work is often influenced by the coastline and these paintings were inspired by views looking down from the coastal path on the headland by Porth Trecastell (also known as Cable Bay on Anglessey).
These works are all acrylic on canvas. The compositions give a real sense of standing on the edge with the tempting aqua blues set against the stone luring us into take a dip in the clear waters below with traces of lichen giving the sense of clean air. These paintings aren’t your typical Welsh landscape, but one is left with a sense of adventure and exploration ready to dig deeper into the surroundings and discover more.
With a HND in Jewellery and BA Hons in Fine Art, Harri’s multidisciplinary practice is diverse. Harri has been involved in the Ogwen Festival’s pop-up sculpture area for several years, creating site specific work. Her paintings were first included in the Cambrian Academy Open Exhibition when it was in Plas Mawr and she has since been exhibited in many open exhibitions including Mostyn, Theatr Clwyd and a solo exhibition in Oriel Mon. We are happy to welcome Harri back to the gallery as a returning artist.
