Red Dragon
The Red Dragon has been associated with Wales since AD829 and was said to be the battle standard used by King Arthur. In the Mabinogion tale of Lludd and Llefelys the Red Dragon fights with the invading white dragon with such even ferocity that they are eventually quietened by being lulled with mead and buried in a pit. When they were subsequently released by King Vartigen they resumed their battle which the Red Dragon won.
