Painted during a severe bout of cold and wintry Welsh weather, the ‘Sun Bee’ was created as a defiant answer to the seasonal gloom that can afflict so many during those long, dark winter months. Vibrant with colour and energy, the ‘Sun Bee’ explores the remarkable and intimate relationship the bee has with the flower, not just as a source of nectar, but as a vessel to gather the sun’s energy. Indeed, are those petals on the sunflower or are they bursts and flares of the sun’s energy? Perhaps they are both.

Yn wir, ai petalau sydd ar y blodyn haul ynteu fflachiadau egni’r haul ei hun? Efallai eu bod ill dau.
