DARYNA BANDURKA

3 February 2023 - 15 March 2023

Daryna Bandurka is a 16-year-old emerging artist from the city of Dnipro in the Ukraine.  Following a very difficult decision Daryna travelled to the UK in 2022 with her parents, aunt and little twin sisters. They have settled here in the area for the time being.

Darnya has loved to paint and draw since childhood and her creative talent led to an offer to study art and design at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Dolgellau which she is really enjoying. In 2012 Daryna started drawing in an after-school group with Julia Oleksandrivna Martynenko where she studied for four years. In 2017 she started studying with the "KPNZ" City Palace of Children and Youth” which continues online. Larisa Viktorivna of Pereyaslovets, a master of folk art of Ukraine, is still her teacher to this day. Daryna also received an apprentice certificate in 2017 and began to actively participate in various international competitions.

After graduating from school, Daryna planned to study at the Dnipro Theater and Art College, majoring in "Decorative and Applied Art", where she would have been taught by Honoured Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Tetiana Anatoliivna Garkava. Daryna is inspired by the drawings of famous artists such as Oleksandr Opariy, Viktoriya Tymoshenko, Galina Nazarenko, Tetiana Garkava, Natalia Pidigirna-Babin, Iryna Grinko, Lyudmila Bondarenko, Mykhailo Shcherbina. These are very talented contemporaries of Petrykiv painting.  Petrykovsky painting is folk art that preserves the customs of decorating Ukrainian homes, but also modern painting that develops and acquires new features.
