Louise Diggle

Louise is fascinated by the endless variability of nature. Bleak moors and winding hill trails, rocky outcrops and forests, mountain lakes, low clouds and stormy weather … all these elements of the landscape intrigue her and are running themes in her semi-abstract and abstract art. Using acrylics principally, but also incorporating oil pastels, collage, printmaking techniques and more, the artist repeatedly builds layers and then works back into them, developing, revealing and creating texture, to reflect the constant weathering and renewal in the natural world.

All these paintings are inspired by landscapes in late summer, autumn and winter. Five of them arose from my hill walks around and above the Ceiriog and Dee Valleys, close to my home. The other one (Still Waters) was inspired by two mountain lakes I encountered while hiking in Eryri (Snowdonia).
