Blodeuwedd was created as the wife of Lleu Llaw Gyffes he had been cursed to never marry a human. Blodeuwedd means flower face as she was created from flowers - broom, meadowsweet and oak. She was created by the wizards Gwydion and Math. Later she falls in love with Gronw Pebr and Blodeuwedd and Gronw plan to kill Lleu which is complicated due to another curse. Much comes from this and you can read more of the story in the 4th branch of the Mabinogion. The upshot is that Gwydion transforms Blodeuwedd into an owl, "condemned to live in darkness and feared by other birds". I have subtly decorated my Blodeuwedd dress with the flowers and her headdress with the feathers in an owl.
