“The lower bridge over the Ysgethin river is part of an old medieval and packhorse route. During the winter, when the higher path over Pont Scethin became impassible, it was also used by cattle drovers taking their cows to the Southern markets. An inscription on a stone in the centre of the bridge states that William Vaughan of the nearby Cors y Gedol paid for repairs in 1762.”

“Mae'r bont is dros afon Ysgethin yn rhan o hen lwybr canoloesol a llwybr mul. Yn ystod y gaeaf, pan fyddai y llwybr uwch dros Bont Scethin yn anhramwyadwy, fe'i defnyddiwyd hefyd gan borthmyn a oedd yn mynd â'u buchod i farchnadoedd deheuol. Mae arysgrif ar garreg yng nghanol y bont yn nodi bod William Vaughan o Gors y Gedol gerllaw wedi talu am atgyweiriadau ym 1762.”
