Sue Rundle-Hughes is a Welsh artist from the Wye Valley whose work is inspired by folklore, animals, and the Welsh landscape. Her drawings and paintings often feature animals and characters that hint at stories drawn from fairytales, nature, and mythology. Working mainly in graphite, ink and acrylic, she creates detailed images that combine observation with imagination. Storytelling is central to her work, and many of her pieces suggest small moments of narrative for the viewer to interpret in their own way.

These three drawings follow the imagined flight of a crow along the Taith Ardudwy Way. Each piece is inspired by a place along the route that caught my attention during our walk, from the Bronze Age cairn at Bryn Cader Faner to Pont Scethin Bridge and Cerrig Arthur. Through the crow’s journey I wanted to capture something of the landscape, history and quiet atmosphere of the area.
